#5 Setting Goals You Can Control

Be sure to set goals that you can control. Why? Because you are less likely to get frustrated and quit. Besides that, you will be saving time by focusing your energy on goals you can actually achieve yourself rather than fruitless endeavors involving changing the actions of other people. For example, you might not be able to control who is chosen for a promotion you desire but you can control efforts to increase your skill in hopes of being a serious contender for a promotion at work. Make sure your goals are based on actions that depend upon you, that fit your lifestyle and your value system and you will not only make the best use of your time but you will be much happier while reaching out for your goals.
